Standard Home
Inspections
The standard home inspection is a non-invasive, visual examination of the accessible areas of a residential property to identify defects within specific systems and components.
Systems and Components consist of:
Roof, Exterior, Basement, Foundation, Crawlspace & Structure, Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, Fireplace, Attic, Insulation & Ventilation, Door, Windows & Interior.
This thorough examination gives a wonderful overview of the home while providing guidance to some of your most anticipated questions. And you’re encouraged to be present for it!
But for how long?
Typical home inspections can range from 3-4 hours depending on the size, age, and complexity of the home.
Once the inspection is completed you can expect to receive your report within 36 hours.
New Residential Structure (New Construction)
Have you recently purchased a newly constructed home? Were you offered a one year warranty for your home in which the contractor has agreed to remedy any issues that you have found with your home during that time?
If so, consider calling on Straight Point Home Inspections for a certified New Residential Structures Inspection around your 10 month mark. This allows you the time to find and correct those issues as well as some that you may not have even considered looking for.
Radon Testing
Why test for radon? The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that approximately 21,000 lung cancer deaths per year are caused by radon exposure. This is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer deaths after smoking.
Radon is a gas that can be found almost anywhere, and the levels can fluctuate over time due to it being the byproduct of uranium breaking down in the soil. Once it reaches the radon gas stage, the EPA recommends that levels over 4.0 piC/l be mitigated in your home to reduce the health risks associated with radon exposure. For more information on radon and its risks, I recommend reading more at: https://www.epa.gov/radon
If you are concerned about radon in your home, Straight Point Home Inspections offers Continuous Radon Monitor testing provides a reading of radon levels immediately after the testing period has concluded. The minimum required testing period is 48 hours after 12 hours of a closed condition environment has been established.
WHY GET INSPECTED?
Every home has a history and a future. If a home could talk, it would tell you how it’s feeling and how long it expects all major components to last. Unfortunately, a home can’t talk to this level, so consider a home inspection the next best thing.
Home inspectors crawl into tight spaces, climb into attics and onto roofs, test major systems, and thoroughly explore your new home with the knowledge and insight needed to speak on behalf of the home. Straight Point Home Inspections aims to get all the information you need to know about your home and deliver it to you in an easy-to-understand package so you purchase your dream home with confidence.
As a home ages, its story and character develop. However, as with many other things, we can’t always judge a book by its cover. Trust Straight Point Home Inspections to explore beyond the surface and provide a clear picture of everything you need to know about your new home.
